D\u2019importants moyens de secours ont \u00e9t\u00e9 engag\u00e9s sur place. Malgr\u00e9 l\u2019intervention rapide des pompiers et les tentatives de r\u00e9animation effectu\u00e9es par le m\u00e9decin du Smur, la conductrice de la voiture est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9e. Elle avait 86 ans. Choqu\u00e9s, les deux conducteurs du train ont \u00e9t\u00e9 transport\u00e9s au centre hospitalier de Royan. Aucun passager n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 bless\u00e9. 18 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pris en charge par la SNCF et conduits \u00e0 Saintes. La circulation des trains a \u00e9t\u00e9 interrompue.
