Depuis plus de deux ans, le D\u00e9partement, qui est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme colonis\u00e9, est habilit\u00e9 par l\u2019Agence R\u00e9gionale de Sant\u00e9 Nouvelle-Aquitaine \u00e0 mettre en \u0153uvre des actions de surveillance et de lutte contre cette esp\u00e8ce. Car, les moustiques tigres peuvent \u00eatre vecteurs de maladies comme la dengue, le zika ou le chikungunya. Ils g\u00e9n\u00e8rent \u00e9galement une nuisance importante aupr\u00e8s de la population. Sept communes sont principalement concern\u00e9es par son implantation : Saintes, Nieul-sur-Mer, Chaniers, Saint-Georges-d\u2019Ol\u00e9ron, P\u00e9rigny, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne et Saint-Sauveur-d\u2019Aunis.
