Le drame s\u2019est produit peu apr\u00e8s 11h, \u00e0 hauteur du passage \u00e0 niveau 187. Le train, qui transportait 16 passagers et 3 membres du personnel navigant, effectuait la liaison entre Saintes et La Rochelle, lorsque la collision a eu lieu. La victime a \u00e9t\u00e9 retrouv\u00e9e morte sur la voie par les secours. Le trafic SNCF a \u00e9t\u00e9 interrompu.
